Who

Ash is created by Land Wave—by people born on islands who have drifted between cultures. We have mastered the techniques of ceramics, but this time, we chose to let go.

What

The Ash collection preserves clay in its most free state—sprawling, untamed, even askew. The nerikomi technique lets different colored clays mix together; glazes flow freely in the heat of the kiln. The finished pieces are not pristine or polished. They are like ash: they have been through fire, and what remains is the essence.

 They look asymmetrical, imperfect, but when you hold them, they are steady. Each piece has found its own balance.

Why

To drift is to learn to let go.

Leaving the island where we were born, moving through different cultures, we learned to release control—you cannot fully determine who you will become, what will shape you, where you will land. Like nerikomi clay, where different colors and textures are mixed together: you can guide it, but the final pattern is something it walks into on its own.

Ash—what remains after fire has burned through, what eventually returns to the earth. We left our homelands and experienced so much, but the most essential things—a sensitivity to nature, a certain instinct for beauty—stayed with us, like ash.

We do not fight against randomness. We trust that nature and time will offer answers better than any we could have planned.
